At Go Move It, our experienced professionals carefully prepare your belongings for storage or shipment in portable storage storage units, rental trucks, and trailers. We use high-quality packing materials—furniture pads, stretch wrap, and sturdy boxes—and time-tested techniques to keep fragile items and bulky furniture safe from door to door.
Preparing Your Home for Moving Day
Pre-Load Safety Checklist (Storage-Unit Moves & Portable Storage Units)
- Set Aside Do-Not-Load Items - Keep money, credit cards, jewelry, furs, original documents, and other irreplaceable items with you. Do not place these in the storage unit.
- Drain Power Equipment - Empty gas and oil from lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and generators to meet facility and transport safety rules.
- Disconnect Electronics & Appliances - Unplug computers, TVs, cable boxes, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other major appliances. Pro Tip: Use a washer/dryer stabilizer kit to protect drums and bearings during transit.
- Defrost Freezers - Give fridge and freezer units at least 24 hours to defrost. Wipe interiors dry before loading.
- Clear Pathways - Remove throw rugs, loose cords, and clutter from hallways and doorways so movers (or you) can navigate safely.
